Is the cousin of Death

Don't Sleep

Some of the greatest albums where ones that when they came out were largely ignored. A lot of Hip Hop icons released albums that for one reason or another came and went. It's a given that a lot of not well known artists released albums that were ignored. KEEP IT OLDSKOOL wants everyone to know like "Dap" said in School Daze "WAAAAAAAKE UPPPPPP" and sleep no more on these albums. These albums are not in any kind of order and not be any means the only albums that were slept on.

Ride the Rhythm by Chill Rob G (1989)

Weightless by Skinny Boys (1986)

Take a Look Around by Master Ace (1990)

Word Life by O.C  (1994)

No Mercy by Da Youngstas (1994)

Runaway Slave by Showbiz and AG (1992)

Even established stars in the Rap game came out with albums that were "slept on"  Most of the above artists albums were victims of poor promotion, bad advice from management (Skinny Boys should have never went with that name) label folding (Masta Ace) and songs being stolen  (Chill Rob G's "The Power" was overshadowed by Snap and the wack rapper they had Turbo D) Below are some better known artist who had releases that did not get the acclaim they should have

Sex and Violence by Boogie Down Productions (1992)
File:Sex and Violence BDP.jpg
This follow up to Edutainment was not only the last album under the BDP moniker it featured songs like 13 and Good,Duck Down, Like a Throttle and Poisonous Products sold only half of what previous album did. Krsone  believed that it did not sell well based on the PM Dawn incident where BDP ran on to the stage during a PM Dawn concert performance for a verbal diss the lead singer of the group threw his way.

 H.N.I.C by Prodigy (2000)

This album released by one half of the duo Mobb Deep featured production from Havoc,The Alchemist, Just Blaze and Rockwilder was a great album that came and went mostly due to no real promotion and the label Relativity Records seeing fit to only release one single the banger "Keep it Thoro" this album however is stands the test of time and is a good album

The Main Ingredient by Pete Rock & C. L. Smooth

This album released 1994. After the massive success of 1992s Mecca and The Soul Brother this follow up album was overlooked. The singles were "Take You There","Searching" and "I Got A Love" which were great songs but none of them was  a "T.R.O.Y"  from the Mecca and the Soul Brother album. There was the added issue of infighting between the 2 and it was their last studio album to date.  This album was one the best albums released in 1994 but was overshadowed by releases by Nas, Notorious B.I.G and a few others

This is not all of the albums that have been slept on. If you can think of any others please feel free to comment or add to the list.  Don't sleep on this column.
